In a world that seems to be becoming louder and louder, my curiosity only surfaces more at the thought of finding those quiet places. Feelings unexpressed and words that go unspoken.
The assortment of poems below are a voyage of communicating a part of my identity. I have been writing and re writing these words since 2017; a forever on-going art piece. As I unpack the quiet places of my mind, I will be dividing my writing into titles of Unseen Realities, Vanishing Worlds, and Motionless Evolution.
I will be touching upon the themes of: internalized thought patterns, the art of vulnerability, ecofeminism, a humans relationship to nature, time and space, karmic evolution, and ancestral karma.
UNSEEN REALITIES
27:
I have been writing a poem on silence for twenty-seven days
And there is nothing.
And perhaps that is a poem in itself.
To let silence be silence
To let an unwritten poem be complete.
What Does Love Mean to You? :
Some things on this Earth
Hold strength that goes beyond
Time
Space
Sentiment.
To be Found:
What you are searching for
Isn’t meant to be found.
It might not even be existent, now.
So, let it
Be in you.
In silence.
Human Truths:
Sometimes words fail me.
Sometimes my unseen emotions peak within the fullness of life.
Sometimes they unravel, when I fall.
Sometimes love fails me.
Sometimes my uninhibited desires are adored with affection.
Sometimes they rot cold, when warmth escapes.
Sometimes oxygen fails me.
Sometimes my breath needs a gentle reminder to glorify my lungs.
Sometimes all I can do is watch
And stand
With a swollen heart and no air to let out.
Sister to Sister:
To cultivate self-love
To stand in our worth, with fierce divinity
To throw ourselves heart first into hurricanes of doubt
To be naked in thought and appearance
To use “no” as a full sentence, in utter confidence
To find passion from within and only from within
To pack your bags in hopes to never settle
That, is lady like.
If he does not spark a light in your soul in the moments of piercing eye contact
If he does not suffocate your sensations with warmth the way fire does in frigid temperatures
If he does not taste of the universe cosmically burning new stars for new galaxies
Then walk away.
Because that is lady like.
Daydreams:
I would rather lie in the middle of the dirt road
Staring at the full moon
With a joint resting in between my finger tips.
I would rather learn
From life;
I would rather my love be defined
By love itself,
Nothing more or less.
If we have milestones ,
Mine will be measured by true richness
Collected.
Divine Instinct:
I woke up
And I knew.
I listened
And defied reason.
I gave my arms to the sky,
And trusted what I already knew.
I led myself
Through humility
Truth
Detachment
And surrender.
I am able to create in flow
Not in force.
I return home,
To what is Ancient.
VANISHING WORLDS
Awakened:
I woke up wanting to drink the same wild air,
That I taste when near the sea.
Letting it breathe life into me,
I need too much, I ask for it all.
Let me sip until I am too drunk to even care.
I woke up wanting to sink into the core of the earth.
Letting the edges of my body ground itself with ease,
So that every vein, has a place to root.
And while my temple is submerged, my heart floats.
Wanders.
Let me become soiled into the elements,
Consumed with the cycles of life,
Yet wild at my hearts core.
Renewal:
If nothing,
I will become something,
For you to rest your bones into.
Smokey wind
Dry heat
And the honey hued sky –
Maybe that’s what I will become.
A Voiceless Voice:
Without a breath of language voiced,
The land sways.
The ocean moans.
The wind cries.
The clouds transform.
The sun spills out,
Bleeding of morning gold.
The language of the Earth;
It devours humanness
And therefore,
Is voiced.
Gaia:
Her landscapes are rotting.
She breathes in,
But we do not let her breathe out.
She surrenders and loves unconditionally,
But we have never given her a reason to do so.
Her oceans are rising.
She is angry,
But we do not calm her.
She is flooding,
But we refuse to stop her tears.
We do not see
Our own two hands
Fighting against her evolutionary currents.
We do not see
Our own two hands
Vanishing with her very existence.
Identity:
I am okay
But the air I breathe is not.
I am okay
But the land I walk upon is not.
I am okay but the salted waters I float through are not.
I am okay but the wildflowers I smell are not.
I sit in the dirt.
I let the black of night kiss me
I let the cosmos paint me.
I look up
I cry
I laugh
At the parallel universes.
Maybe the other worlds are okay
But this one is not.
MOTIONLESS EVOLUTION
Shadow Work:
There are times
Where I am silent.
And my solitude, is the sweetest symphony.
I stay hidden,
But exposed,
To this planetary existence.
I voyage into inner space and silence,
Where I become dust particles in sun rays.
To Dust We Will Return:
In darkness, constellations birth upon your flesh.
The planets sigh.
The nebulas dance.
19 billion lightyears from where we are now,
There is moonlight in your eyes.
In lightness, dawn sees you and sways.
Painting in vast sorts
Of wild blood and cosmic energy.
19 billion lightyears from where we are now,
there is starlight in your soul.
A Humans Responsibility:
I know that I am capable.
I am capable of holding the weight of the Earth
And the heat of the Sun
On my shoulders.
But there are times
Where I grow
Tired.
My soul yawns.
My bones ache.
It is in the midst of change and evolution
In which we become restless.
We breed.
Mysteries of Life:
Like waves
Beating against existence,
I know there are things I will never understand.
Such as space, time and relativity.
How every single creature on this planet
Lives a separate
Symbiotic experience.
How life melts,
Stillness swallows.
Ancestral Karma:
Have you ever breathed unfamiliar air that awakened your senses?
Trembled upon nameless lands that spoke to you through vibrations?
Dreamt of foreign places that felt like home?
You have.
It is hiding
Beneath our flesh.
As bodies evolve,
As Earth evolves,
Historical consciousness evolves.
The past is never the past just as
The present is never the present.
But rather,
Our minds are the theory of time.
Of change.
Of motionless evolution.
You have breathed
What you do not remember breathing.
And you have walked the grounds
Of places, you do not recall walking.
Because it is
Beneath our flesh,
Where we rest inside,
Ancestral Karma.
